1-What is InterSilo? This Bulletin Board Website is an opportunity for professionals to communicate with each other.
It works by posting your information in your category, but withholding your email (contact) address. If you are interested in contacting someone, you basically then ask InterSilo to send your information to that person. The site is divided into several major Exchange Pages (Music, Art, Authors etc.), as well as additional commercial (i.e. Shopping etc.) and useful pages (i.e. Comparison Shopping, Nasdaq/NYSE status, WebCams, Musicians news Artist news, Magazines, links etc.) We are working on bringing broadcast opportunities through Internet radio, building an Internet Record Label, expanding our online galleries for selected Artists, and providing for an Online Publication Tool for Authors and Editors - stay tuned! -

2-How to use the Exchange? It is very simple to use the exchange. The basic idea, is that you post your information, then someone browses and sees your information, and requests InterSilo to send you an email with THEIR information on it. Then you decide if you want to answer or communicate further.

In the same way, if you see someone on the listings you want to communicate with, you request InterSilo to send them an email with YOUR information on it (including email address). Then  it is up to them to answer you or not.

The bottom line is, it is your decision at all times whether you give out your email address to someone or not.

3-Why Log On? The main reason for you to log on, is if you want to contact someone. You can use all the stores, browse for information, look at the galleries, download sample MP3's, listen to the radio etc. But if you are not logged on, then InterSilo does not have your email address, and consequently you cannot contact someone, nor can you be contacted because how could they answer you. You can only log on if you are registered in some category. (When you register, you are automatically logged on for that session)

Registered but not Logged On: If you have registered, and come back on another day, you must log in if you want to contact someone. You can always browse the listings, and other InterSilo pages even if you are not registered or logged on. To log on, click the "Log On Only if you are Registered"  button on the top right hand of your screen

4-Registry:

4.1. Select the main group (Art, Music..) you want to register in, and the subgroup (i.e. for music there is are musician,  band, studio, GIG/Venue and  producer subgroups clearly listed). You can find these listings on the HOME page, or on the individual group pages (music, art etc)

4.2. Enter your information. Most information is selected via drop-down boxes, and is pretty general. There is a comment box in several categories where you can add non-general information.

You will be sent an email with your password, email address and category , for your records.

4.3 Why do I have to 'sound similar to' or 'write similar to etc.'??
As Einstein said, "we all stand on the shoulders of giants", meaning that even the most original person always borrows heavily from others. The question is in reality: "if you had to compare yourself to anyone in your field, who would you resemble most (even if that is just a little). For Intersilo it is a practical matter: a band may be looking for a guitarist with Hendrix influences, a publisher may be looking for the next Clancy, a band wants a singer who sounds a bit like so and so, and you have to be able to search on that if so desired. Therefore a category is necessary. On a new website such as Intersilo it does not seem to make much difference, but when there are thousands of people registered it will become very important to be able to be selective in your search.

Picture, MP# Path or URL If you have your own website, you can post a picture and/or MP3 file you have posted on that server, simply by writing the correct URL while you are registering at Intersilo. If you're not sure about the rught URL, then point your browser to the picture or MP3 on your server, and rightclick while you're highlighting it. Then select 'properties', and you will see the path/URL to use. Copy that and paste it into the space provided at Intersilo. The neat thing is, that you can for example change the picture on your server at any time, which also mean it changes on Intersilo. The image is shown on the detailed info page, always at 125 X 125 pixels. The closer your picture is top that size, the better it will come out. TEST the image after writing the URL, by pressing the TEST button. Once you have registered, you cannot change your info, except by deleting it.

5-Search/Browse, and 6-contact someone:

5.1. Find the List category (For Music there is the musician list, the producer list, the studio list etc., for Art there is the Artist list, the Gallery List and so on).

5.2. Enter your search criteria (for example, a zip code or a state or a certain style of music). All criteria are clearly listed.

5.3. Click on search, and you will see a general list, one person per row. On the left side of each row you will see a little button that says: 'More..'.  If you click on that button, you will see a screen with more detail about that particular person (except for the email address). If you are logged in, then there will be a button on the Right bottom corner which states 'do you want to contact?'. By pressing this button, you are sending the selected person an email with your information, including email address so that they can email you back if they want to).

If you contact someone, you will also be sent an email to remind you.

7-If someone contacts me:

You will receive an email from Exchange@InterSilo.com with the subject line: "Request for Contact". In the body of the message you will find the email of the interested person, the reason for the interest, as well as a link that looks a little like this: "http://www.intersilo.com/music/sqldetai2.asp?id=xxx&source=yyy"

Just press on that link, or, if your email does not work that way, just copy the link and paste it into a browser (explorer or netscape). The link will take you to Intersilo and show you a page with the details of the interested person, band or organization. Since you have their email address, and their information, you can now make an informed decision as to whether you wish to answer, although it is always a good idea to reply even if declining the invitation.

8-Unsubscribe - Opt out:

The registered user has the option at any time to "opt-out" or "unsubscribe" by means of the www.intersilo.com/stop.asp page; for example, a musician who found a band will probably no longer wish to be listed.
