PROJECT HISTORY 1984

The first Franklin Holland Project was conceived in 1984. The reason to call it a project is that the focus is on writing a coherent concept as a work in progress. Click here for Franklin's Musical History

Caracas, 1984: Album: Al Publico

'Proyecto Franklin Holland' sent demos to radio stations reaching the first spot in the Top Ten in just a week for 'no morira' and 'al musico'. The Project was voted 'Revelation of the Year' at the Poliedro, and then signed by the Sonografica label.
The first project explored some of the relationships a musician needs to identify: between musician and his audience: (Al Publico), between a musician and his art (Al Musico), between a musician and the existence around him (Solo Piedras).  Also, the presence of a separate, spiritual, musical world is postulated (El Tren del Ritmo), and the archetypal functions of rhythm and melody are exposed (No Morira). The challenge was to produce a coherent album in the Spanish language.
The Band: Drums: Gerardo Ubieda, Enrique Santana and Pedro Rodriguez, Bass: Victor Fiol and Rafucho Vocals and keyboards: Franklin Holland Guitars: Franklin Holland and Rod 'Pocho' Serra
Guests: Ilan Chester (Hammond B3) and Alvaro Falcon (Guitar). Arrangements by Franklin Holland, production by Franklin Holland and Alvaro Falcon.

Caracas, 1986: Album: Halley's Mandala

The second project album was recorded at Kandra in Caracas, in English. The project explored the cyclical nature of most everything, so no wonder that the most important piece is called Halley's Dream, because of the 86 year cycle in which this Halley's comet passes earth. (Last: 1986). Because of Franklin's departure for the US, this album was never pressed or released. Guests: Gerardo Ubieda and Enrique Santana (drums), Rafucho Figliolio (bass), and  Otmaro Ruiz (Keyboards), whose stellar performance may be heard on 'Halley's Comet'
